Jonathan Ray is the Director of Security and Foreign Affairs with the Commission. He oversees research and analysis on China’s military strategy and planning, leadership intentions, foreign affairs, cybersecurity, space warfare, and proliferation activities. Prior to joining the Commission, he served as the Research Director and Program Manager for the Center for Intelligence Research and Analysis at SOS International, where he led a range of analytical efforts on national security, economic, and technology issues. Jonathan has published on China’s pursuit of advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and quantum computing, as well as the country’s development of nuclear, space, and cyber capabilities. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University and a Master of Arts degree from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. He also completed Chinese language training at Brigham Young University through the National Security Education Program.
