RELEASE OF RESEARCH REPORT ON A POTENTIAL U.S.-CHINA BILATERAL INVESTMENT TREATY: The Commission has approved for public release a new contracted report entitled: “Evaluating a Potential U.S.-China Bilateral Investment Treaty: Background, Context and Implications.” “China has signed BITs with most of the world’s most significant trading and investing countries, including Japan, Germany and the UK. A major omission is a US-China BIT… Rising trade and investment flows between the two nations led them to resume negotiations in June 2008, following the fourth Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED) meeting…” The Commission contracted with the Economist Intelligence Unit to produce this report on the basis of a competitive contract awarded in June 2009. RELEASE OF RESEARCH REPORT ON CHINESE INGREDIENTS IN U.S. PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTS: The Commission has approved for public release a new contracted report entitled: “Potential Health & Safety Impacts from Pharmaceuticals and Supplements Containing Chinese-Sourced Raw Ingredients.” “In recent years there has been increasingly deep concern regarding the potential health and public safety impacts of the widespread and unregulated use of Chinese-sourced ingredients that are imported and incorporated into America’s pharmaceutical products, dietary, and nutritional supplements…” The Commission contracted with NSD Bio Group, LLC to produce this report on the basis of a competitive contract awarded in April 2009.
