The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission will conduct a public hearing on Thursday, July 23, 2009 in Rochester, New York on “The Impact of Globalization and Trade with China on New York State Companies and Communities.
The hearing will be conducted from 8:45 am to 5:00 pm at the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies, Rochester, New York, located at 111 Lomb Memorial Drive, Rochester, NY 14623.
The July 23 hearing is being conducted to obtain input from leading experts in government, business, industry, academia and the public on the impact of globalization and trade with China on New York State companies and communities, and to address the following areas: (1) positive and negative effects of competition with China, (2) impact on major industries that have closed production facilities in the region, (3) efforts by State government to deal with adverse effects of international trade competition, (4) efforts to stimulate local economy, and (5) what industries are leading the future of New York.
Public participation is invited during an open-microphone session for public comment at the conclusion of the afternoon session beginning at 4:00 pm. Sign-up for open-microphone session will take place in the morning of July 23 beginning at 8:45 am and will be on a first come, first served basis. Each individual or group making an oral presentation will be limited to a total of 5 minutes.
