The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 on “China’s Industrial Policy and its Impact on U.S. Companies, Workers, and the American Economy.” The hearing will be held at 9:00 am in Room 236 of the Russell Senate Office Building, located at Delaware and Constitution Avenues, NE, Washington DC, 20510

The March 24 hearing will examine China’s pillar and strategic industries, China’s telecommunications and information technology (IT) industries, China’s nanotechnology and optoelectronics industries, and China’s use of incentives to attract foreign investment into certain of those industries.

Scheduled to testify on March 24 are Dr. George T. Haley, Professor at the University of New Haven; Mr. Clyde V. Prestowitz, Jr., President of the Economic Strategy Institute; Mr. Alan William Wolff, Partner at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP; Dr. Ralph E. Gomory, President Emeritus at the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation; Mr. Terrence P. Stewart, Managing Partner at Stewart and Stewart; Mr. Richard McCormack, Editor and Publisher of Manufacturing & Technology News; Dr. Richard P. Suttmeier, Professor Emeritus at the University of Oregon; Dr. Denis F. Simon, Professor, Penn State School of International Affairs, Mr. Andrew Z. Szamosszegi, Managing Consultant at Capital Trade Inc.; Dr. Michael S. Lebby, President and CEO of the Optoelectronics Industry Development Association; Dr. Richard P. Appelbaum, member of the Executive Committee at the Center for Nanotech in Society, University of California at Santa Barbara; and Dr. Eugene G.
