The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission will conduct a public hearing on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 on “China's Military and Security Activities Abroad.” The hearing will be held at 9:00 am in Room 418 of the Russell Senate Office Building, located at Delaware and Constitution Avenues, NE, Washington DC, 20510
The March 4 hearing will examine the People’s Liberation Army’s domestic and foreign activities and orientation, China’s expanding military and security influence, and China’s military operations abroad.
Scheduled to testify on March 4 are Mr. John J. Norris, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs; Mr. David Sedney, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for East Asian Affairs; Dr. Bernard Cole, Professor of International History at the National War College; Mr. Daniel Hartnett, China Analyst at the CNA Corporation; RADM Eric McVadon, USN (Ret.), Director of Asia-Pacific Studies at the Institute for Foreign Policy Analysis, Inc.; Ms. Susan L. Craig, Red Team Leader at the Joint Intelligence Operations Center, U.S. Pacific Command; Dr. Paul J. Smith, Associate Professor at the Naval War College; Dr. Michael Auslin, Resident Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute; and Mr. Chin-hao Huang, Researcher at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
