| The Commission
has announced plans to begin its 2004-2005 reporting cycle
with two hearings aimed at gaining first hand perspectives
on the impact of U.S.-China trade and investment on the U.S.
economy. The first hearing will
be held on September 23, 2004, in Akron, Ohio to examine
the impact of U.S.-China trade and investment on key manufacturing

tools, and other important regional manufacturing sectors
on how they have been affected by economic relations with
China and how this may be indicative of broader trends for
the U.S. manufacturing base. The Commission will also hear
from community representatives on the economic development
