The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission will hold a public hearing on December 4, 2003 in Washington, D.C. examining the regional economic, political and security dimensions of China 's growth as an economic power in Asia.  The hearing will cover such issues as economic relations across the Taiwan Strait and the implications of China's growing economic vibrancy and regional integration for U.S. policies and interests in Asia.

The Commission will hear the views of expert witnesses on China's regional economic strategies, the dynamics of Cross-Strait economic integration, and China's economic ties with Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and China's Central and South Asian neighbors.   The Commission is interested in how these dynamics are affecting China's relations with Asian countries and U.S. interests in the region.  Additional details, including the hearing agenda, will be available in the near future on the Commission's website.
