Dr. Roger Cliff
Senior Political Scientist, The RAND Corporation
Roger Cliff is a Senior Political Scientist at the RAND Corporation specializing in security issues involving China. His areas of recent research at RAND have included Chinese air force doctrine, Chinese antiaccess strategies, and China’s aerospace industry. He is currently leading a study on Chinese military space power. Roger was previously Assistant for Strategy Development in the office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy and a defense systems analyst for VERAC, Inc., in San Diego. He received his PhD in International Relations from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. He also holds an MA in Chinese Studies from the University of California, San Diego, and a BS in Physics from Harvey Mudd College.
