Dr. Andrew Scobell

Dr. Andrew Scobell is an Associate Professor at the Bush School of Government and Public Service and Director of the China Certificate Program at Texas A&M University. Previously, he was an Associate Research Professor in the Strategic Studies Institute at the U.S. Army War College, Adjunct Professor of Political Science at Dickinson College, and an Associate Professor in Political Science at the University of Louisville. He earned a Ph.D. in political science from Columbia University. Scobell's research focuses on political and security affairs in the Asia-Pacific Region with special attention to China. He is the author of "China's Use of Military Force: Beyond the Great Wall and the Long March" (Cambridge University Press, 2003) and other publications. He is also the author (with Andrew J. Nathan) of a forthcoming study on Chinese foreign policy titled "China's Search for Security" to be published by Columbia University Press.
