Madeline Earp researches and reports on press freedom issues throughout Asia for the Committee to Protect Journalists, a New York-based non-profit. She has a master's degree in East Asian studies from Harvard University and a bachelor's degree in English literature from Cambridge University, UK. She has studied Mandarin Chinese in China and Taiwan and taught English in Asia, Europe and America. Earp was awarded a British Association for Chinese Studies scholarship to Chung Kung University in Taiwan in 2004. Before joining the Committee to Protect Journalists in 2007, she provided executive and communications support at Human Rights in China.
