
Mr. Clive R. Barons
Vice President, Strategy Integration,
Fuji Xerox Operations
Clive Barons is Vice President, Strategy Integration, in the Fuji Xerox Operations team in the Corporate Business Strategy Office of Xerox Corporation. Fuji Xerox is a $10 billion revenue company – a joint venture between Fujifilm Holdings (75%) and Xerox Corporation (25%) with a multinational product development and an Asian sales and distribution charter. In this role he is responsible for developing business strategies for optimizing Xerox's investment in Fuji Xerox with special emphasis on product development, manufacturing, procurement, logistics and distribution operations.
After graduation and an initial position in the British automotive industry, Mr. Barons joined Xerox in the UK in June 1972 to introduce cost control for new programs and held a number of Finance and Program management positions in the European Manufacturing Operations. In 1987, Mr. Barons accepted an expatriate assignment in the US as Strategy Manager for Latin American Manufacturing Operations where he played a key role in developing manufacturing-based market access strategies which enabled Xerox privileged market positions especially in Brazil and Mexico. In 1989, Mr. Barons was promoted to manage strategic planning for all of Xerox's manufacturing operations where he worked extensively with Americas, European, Japanese and Asian operations.
Notable achievements in Mr. Barons' thirty five year career include planning the successful restructuring of worldwide manufacturing operations in 1994. He took a lead role in the creation of the Xerox Technical Park in Ireland in 1997. In 2001, he lead the development and negotiation of the asset sale and long term supply contract with Flextronics International, which included the transfer 5000 Xerox employees in 7 factories in six countries and a five year $1 Billion/yr supply agreement. In 2003, Mr Barons was recognized with the Xerox Corporate Productivity Award for his contributions on this project.
In 2002, Mr Barons lead the development of turnaround strategy for the $4 Billion Production Systems Business Group. From 2003 to 2006, Mr Barons was Vice President Strategy and Integration for Xerox’s Worldwide Manufacturing and Supply Chain Operations, where he launched the “Next Generation Supply Chain” project based on Lean Six Sigma techniques. During this period, in addition to his strategy responsibilities, he was also responsible for Xerox's manufacturing operations in China, India and Egypt. Mr. Barons was appointed Chairman of Synergix Imaging Solutions Suzhou, a Xerox joint venture in China, which he successfully liquidated in early 2005 within budget and resulting in a repatriation of over $7M in cash to Xerox.
Mr. Barons holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Economics and Business Administration from Bath University (UK) and has attended management courses and given lectures at Dartmouth, Babson, Wharton, Michigan State, University of Rochester and the US Association of Manufacturing Excellence.
