Dr. Jacqueline Newmyer
President, Long-Term Strategy Project

 

Dr. Jacqueline Newmyer is President and CEO of the Long Term Strategy Group, a
Cambridge, Mass.-based defense consultancy. For the last seven years, she has
worked with offices in the US government on future security issues. Recent research
topics include the strategy behind China’s military modernization; Iranian military
concepts of operation; Chinese information management efforts; Chinese “downside”
scenarios; China’s capacity for technological innovation; and China’s approach to energy
security. She has also briefed members of five foreign defense establishments.

Dr. Newmyer is currently a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute and has held postdoctoral fellowships at the Belfer Center for Science & International Affairs at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and the John M. Olin Institute for Strategic
Studies in the Harvard Government Department. She won a teaching prize for a seminar
course called “Strategies of Tyrants.” Newmyer has appeared on CNN and been
published in the New York Times, Policy Review, the Weekly Standard, War in
History, and The American Interest, among other outlets. Her work has been cited in a range of publications including Newsweek and the New York Times.

Prior to entering the national security field, she worked as a journalist and an investment analyst. She earned her BA, summa cum laude, in History and Literature from Harvard. Her master’s and doctorate are in Politics from Oxford.
