Mary Amiti is a Senior Economist in the International Research Department. Prior to joining the Federal Reserve Bank of New York she worked at the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, Australian Treasury, University of Melbourne, University of Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) and London School of Economics. She graduated with a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics in 1997, with a specialization in international trade. Since then she has published widely in high ranking journals on topics such as the effects of international trade liberalization on firm productivity and location, and factors that affect the location of foreign direct investment. She has examined these and related issues in the European Union, Indonesia, China and the United States.
