Donald W. Kraemer
Deputy Director, Office of Food Safety, FDA

 

Mr. Kraemer has over 30 years of experience working in the Food and Drug Administration. Currently, he is Deputy Director of the Office of Food Safety, located in College Park, MD. In this position, he has general responsibility for administration of FDA food safety efforts including regulatory policy, budget, facilities, and personnel issues in support of the Office Director. He also has specific responsibility for administration of seafood policy and research divisions.

Previous positions within the FDA include Acting and Associate Director of the Office of Seafood (1993-2007), where he was responsible for administration of seafood policy and research divisions. He has also served as National Food Expert in the Office of Regulatory Affairs, located in New Orleans, from May 1990 – August 1993, as Senior Regional Shellfish Specialist of the Dallas and Atlanta Regional Offices in New Orleans, and finally as a Consumer Safety Officer in New Orleans, as well.
