Bassett is the president of Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Company, Inc., in Galax, Virginia. Vaughan-Bassett today produces more all-wood bedroom furniture in the United States than any other company, operating two factories in Virginia and North Carolina.
With both paternal and maternal grandfathers involved in the business, Wyatt is a fourth-generation furniture manufacturing executive. Upon reaching working age, his summer jobs were in furniture factories, where he returned after graduating from Washington & Lee University in 1988. He worked in all facets of administration and spent two years with a major furniture retailer prior to receiving his MBA from Northwestern University in 1995.
Wyatt returned to Vaughan-Bassett full-time after graduate school and has been a director of the company since 1995. He held the positions of Vice-President of Marketing and Executive Vice-President before being elected President of the company in January 2007. He lives in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
