Michael Petit
Michael Petit

Managing Director, Asia-Pacific Corporate and Government Ratings
Standard and Poor’s
Michael Petit is responsible for heading up Standard & Poor’s corporate, financial services, public sector and sovereign ratings units for Asia-Pacific.  Michael has been based in Tokyo since late 1999, initially as Standard & Poor’s Chief Credit Officer for Asia-Pacific.
Michael joined Standard & Poor’s in 1987, and in 1991, he undertook primary analytical responsibility for non-U.S. credits, first focusing on Asia-Pacific and subsequently on Central and Latin America. Michael also worked as Director of Affiliate Services, working on short-term assignments in countries including India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Taiwán on credit rating and criteria benchmarking exercises.
Before joining Standard & Poor’s, Mr. Petit worked for four years as a credit analyst and a corporate lending officer at a commercial bank in the U.S. Mr. Petit graduated from New York University’s Stern Business School in 1983 with an MBA in Finance and a Master’s degree in Economics from the Universite de Paris.  .
