Laurie graduated from Michigan State University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Packaging Engineering. While attending MSU, Laurie participated in an engineering co-op program with a large technology company. Following graduation Laurie went to work as a packaging designer but realized sales was her niche. She worked for nearly 15 years in various sales and management positions with some of America's largest packaging and corrugated container suppliers. She joined Schmald Tool & Die, Inc. in 1995 as Sales Manager and took over operations from her father in 1997.
