Dr. Takis Tridimas
Professor of Law The Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law
And The University of London’s Queen Mary College

Professor Takis Tridimas holds a joint appointment as a professor of law at Penn State and as the Sir John Lubbock Professor of Banking Law at the University of London’s Queen Mary College. A native of Athens, Greece, Professor Tridimas served as senior legal advisor to the 2003 European Union (EU) presidency and chaired the committee responsible for conducting the legal negotiations and drafting the Treaty of Accession to the EU of the Central and Eastern European States.

Professor Tridimas is the co-editor of the Yearbook of European Law, a member of the Editorial Board of The Company Lawyer, a member of the Advisory Board of the European Financial Services Law Review, and a prolific scholar in the areas of financial services, trade and comparative constitutional law. He previously taught as a Fellow of St. John’s College, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, and as a professor of European law at the University of Southampton School of Law in London.

An active member of the European legal community, Tridimas is a barrister in England and Wales (Middle Temple), an advocate of the Bar of Athens, Greece, and, from 1992-1995, served as a law clerk for the European Court of Justice. At Penn State Dickinson, Professor Tridimas is conducting the seminar Comparative Judicial Law Making in the U.S. and the European Union. He also teaches or has taught EU Law, Securities Regulation, Commercial Law of the EU, Law of the Internal Market, EC Competition Law and Judicial Remedies in the EU, to name a few.

Professor Tridimas earned both his Ph.D. and LL.M. from Girton College, University of Cambridge. Additionally, Professor Tridimas earned his LL.B. from the University of Athens.
