David Welker

Senior Research and Project Coordinator, International Brotherhood of Teamsters

Mr. Welker is Senior Research & Project Coordinator at the Parcel & Small Package Division of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Prior to joining the IBT in 2005, he was Project Director at the Food & Allied Service Trade Department/AFL-CIO between 2003 and 2005.

He previously worked as the Economic Policy Analyst at the US-China Security Review Commission from 2001 to 2003. He also has served as a Program Officer for Asia at the Solidarity Center/AFL-CIO and worked as the Senior Market Researcher for Teachscape, a private company that provides professional development for teachers. He has published articles and research papers on the Chinese trade unions, China's industrial and labor policies, the Chinese laogai system and the Chinese military/defense industries.
