Solomon Tadesse is an Assistant Professor of International Finance at the University of South Carolina, a Fellow of the Wharton Financial Institutions Center at the University of Pennsylvania, and a William Davidson Research Fellow at the University of Michigan. Dr. Tadesse holds a Ph.D. in Finance, and graduate degrees in Accounting, Agricultural Economics, Applied Mathematics/Operations Research, and Financial Economics, as well as professional designations as a CMA and a CFM.

A leading scholar in comparative corporate governance, Dr. Tadesse has active research interests in the areas of international corporate finance, international asset allocation and security selection, and emerging financial markets, including China. His research has been published at the top finance and economics journals, and has received wide recognitions for scholarly excellence, including the recent nomination of one of his works for the Best Paper Award at the Academy of International Business. Dr. Tadesse has won numerous national and international awards and honors including the NASDAQ Fellowship for Capital Formation, the Bank of America Research Grants, and a Research Fellowship with the United States Congress. He has been a subject of biographical record in Who’s Who in Finance and Industry. He is a member of the American Finance Association, the American Economics Association, the Academy of International Business, the Financial Management Association, the Society of Financial Studies, and the Institute of Management Accountants. 

Dr. Tadesse has taught courses on international investments and corporate finance at the Ph.D., MBA, and Undergraduate levels at the University of South Carolina, the Pennsylvania State University at University College, and the University of Maryland at College Park.  He is a two-time nominee for the highest university-wide teaching awards – the Micheal Mungo Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, and the Micheal Mungo Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching. 

Dr. Tadesse’s expertise is also sought in the financial and investment communities and the corporate and policy-making circles where he has provided external consultancy to numerous high-tech start-up firms, large corporations, investment banks and other national and international organizations including the U.S. Congress, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank
