Robert DeLaMater joined Sullivan & Cromwell in 1985, following graduation from Columbia Law School, where he was an editor of the Law Review, and a clerkship with the U.S. Court of Appeals (1984-1985)—James M. Sprouse. He has been a partner since 1992. He is a member of our Mergers & Acquisitions Group and Financial Institutions Group and throughout his career has advised U.S. and non-U.S. entities and their financial advisors in acquisitions, securities offerings and other corporate and financial matters.
At various times he has been resident in our New York, London, Tokyo and Hong Kong offices. From 1997 to 2003 he was the managing partner of our offices in Hong Kong and Tokyo and led S&C's work for clients throughout Asia in the region's most significant privatizations, acquisitions and securities offerings. Many of these transactions were the first or largest of their kind and have been cited by leading financial and legal publications as "M&A Deal of the Year" or "IPO of the Year".
Mr. DeLaMater has been listed in Global Counsel 3000 and Chambers Global Guide to the World's Leading Lawyers and has published and spoken on legal topics including corporate governance, M&A and securities regulation.
