Richard Schneider
Richard Schneider first joined the IAM in 1968 and, one year later, transferred his membership to Local Lodge 63, Portland, Oregon. During the next nine years, he served the membership in a range of positions, including: Shop Steward; Negotiating Committee member, Local Lodge Vice President and delegate to IAM District Lodge 24. In 1978, Brother Schneider became a Business Representative for District 24, negotiating for and servicing members across many diverse industries. From 1979 to 1988, he was Secretary-Treasurer of the Oregon MNPL and a Trustee of the IAM Health and Welfare Trust Fund. In 1982, he was elected Assistant Directing Business Representative of District 24. Brother Schneider was appointed as a Grand Lodge Special Representative for the Western Territories in 1988. In 1990, he became a Grand Lodge Representative, with duties including: NLRB work; membership on the Boeing Corporate Committee; Western Territory Can Coordinator and Vice President of the Pacific Coast Metal Trades District Council. In July 1996, Schneider became Administrative Assistant to Western Territories General Vice President Lee Pearson, and held that position until late 1997 when he was appointed Aerospace Coordinator for the newly-formed IAM Aerospace Department, responsible for IAM affairs relating to the Boeing Co. in the U.S. and Canada.
