Moody’s Financial Insitutions and Sovereign Risk Group
Thomas J. Byrne is a Vice President and Senior Analyst in the Sovereign Risk Unit of Moody’s Financial Institutions and Sovereign Risk Group. Mr. Byrne’s focus has primarily been on East Asian countries since coming to Moody’s in 1997. He is principally responsible for the ratings of the major East Asian economies, namely Japan, Korea and China as well as the Southeast Asian Economies. Mr. Byrne was the senior economist in the Asia Department of the Institute of International Finance in Washington, D.C. He also worked on African and Middle Eastern economies and comparative country analysis during his twelve years of employment there. Before entering graduate school, Mr. Byrne served in the U.S. Peace Corps for three years in South Korea.
Mr. Byrne graduated from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, receiving an M.A. in International Relations with an emphasis on Economics.
