William Primosch

 

Director of International Business Policy, National Association Of Manufacturers

 

            William Primosch is the Director for International Business Policy in the International Economic Affairs Department of the National Association of Manufacturers.  He is responsible for representing the NAM and its member companies on international trade and business issues with the U.S. government and advancing the NAM’s trade agenda to open foreign markets and reduce trade barriers.  He gives special attention to issues involving trade with China and the European Union, standards and regulatory policy, foreign investment protection and customs facilitation.  Mr. Primosch joined the NAM in 2001.  Prior to that, he was a career diplomat with the U.S. State Department.  Over a 23 year period, he held a variety of positions in Washington and overseas dealing with international trade and business issues.  He has had diplomatic postings in London, Bangkok and Belgrade.  In Washington, he served in the National Security Council under President George Bush, Sr. and President William Clinton.  In the State Department, he was the Director of the European Union affairs office where was responsible for managing U.S. trade and political policy toward the fifteen-member trade community.  He has also held positions overseeing U.S. economic  policy on China, Central Europe and Russia.   Mr. Primosch holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Arts degree in international affairs from George Washington University.   He is a native of Cleveland, Ohio.
